Best talk on Graduate day awarded to James Holt
May 2024: Queen Mary University was hosting the Graduate Studies Day at the Blizard Institute. Several graduate students got the opportunity to present their work as a talk or a poster. This year's best talk was awarded to James Holt! James gave an excellent talk on his PhD work about transposable elements and interferon responses in differentiated vs stem cells.
Well done James!!

New funding!
March 2024: The Pierre Maillard was awarded an extention of his UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship grant. Great news for the lab, which we celebrated with a drink at Sams.

EMBO conference incoming
In April 2024 most of the members of the lab are going to the EMBO Pathogen immunity and signaling conference in Venice. Raul as well as Josephine will be presenting their work. Hope to see you there!

The London infection postdoc network is a multi-institutional platform made by and for young researchers to support scientific collaborations and socials. Josephine is part of the organising committee and contributes in organising the different events. We can already tell you that the LIPN symposium 2024 is coming soon. In November 2023 dr. Josephine Nemegeer joined our team as post-doctoral researcher. She will be working on Dicer and its moonlight function in antiviral immunity in mammals.
New funding!
October 2023: The Maillard Lab was co-awarded a Kennedy Trust Research Ignition award with the lab of Dr Annemarthe Van der Veen (Leiden University Medical Centre, Netherlands) to pioneer a new strategy to halt interferon-driven autoinflammation!
Blizard post doc meeting
On the 15th of March a new series of monthly seminars will begin for all postdocs at the Blizard. We start of with Michal Barski (PhD and CEO) who is going to talk about this transition from academia to industry. All postdocs and PhD students are very welcome to join!
